Fosfomycin (C3H7O4P) is a phosphonic acid derivative representing a class of epoxide antibiotics. The drug is a re-emerging bactericidal antibiotic with a broad spectrum of activity against several Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

INDICATIONS:

  • Urinary tract infection
  • Bladder infection
  • Fosfomycin is a safe and effective antibacterial drug for urinary tract infections.

DOSAGE:

  • Take your medicine 2-3 hours before or 2-3 hours after a meal.
  • Take the contents of one sachet in a glass of water.
  • A single dose of this medicine is needed to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  • For complicated UTIs, fosfomycin is usually given at doses of 3 g every 48 to 72 hours for 6 to 21 days. Three doses are usually sufficient.
  • FOSCIN should not be given to children under 12 years of age.
  • Fosfomycin has been used off-label in multiple-dose regimens for the treatment of uncomplicated and complicated UTIs caused by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs).
