EROPTYN

INDICATIONS:

• Treatment of anemia due to chronic kidney disease (CKD) in dialysis and non-dialysis patients.
• Treatment of anemia due to zidovudine in HIV-infected patients.
• Treatment of anemia due to the effects of concomitant myelosuppressive chemotherapy and, at the start of treatment, when at least two additional months of chemotherapy are planned.
• Reduction of allogeneic red blood cell transfusions in patients undergoing elective, non-cardiac, and non-vascular surgery.

DOSAGE:

• For anemia due to chemotherapy: The adult dose is based on body weight. The initial dose is 150 units per kilogram (kg) injected subcutaneously three times a week or 40,000 units injected subcutaneously once a week.
  Children 5 years and over – The initial dose is 600 units per kg injected into a vein once a week.
• For anemia due to chronic kidney failure under dialysis: Adults – The initial dose is 50 to 100 units per kilogram (kg) injected into a vein or under the skin three times a week.
  Children from 1 month to 16 years old, the initial dose is 50 units per kg injected into a vein or under the skin three times a week.
• For anemia due to chronic kidney failure not treated with dialysis: Adults – The initial dose is 50 to 100 units per kilogram (kg) injected into a vein or under the skin three times a week.
• For anemia due to anti-HIV treatment: Adults – The initial dose is 100 units per kilogram (kg) injected into a vein or under the skin three times a week for 8 weeks.
• For surgical anemia: Adults – The initial dose is 300 units per kilogram (kg) injected under the skin for 10 days before surgery, on the day of surgery and for 4 days after surgery.
