TREATMENT OF ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION: The antihypertensive effect of once-daily administration of telmisartan (40–80 mg) is similar to that of once-daily administration of amlodipine (5–10 mg), atenolol (50–100 mg), enalapril (5–20 mg), or lisinopril (10–40 mg). No significant changes in heart rate were observed in patients treated with telmisartan in clinical trials.
